BRAM STOKER’S SHADOWBUILDER

BRAM STOKER’S SHADOWBUILDER REVIEWED

“Bram Stoker’s Shadowbuilder” involves a rogue Catholic priest battling shadow demons. While it’s standard horror action fare for Michael Rooker and Tony Todd, something bothered the hell out of me. What exactly was this film meant to adapt? Well, it was a short story published in the 1880s by Bram Stoker as part of a larger collection. In a way, you might call it Stoker’s Hearts in Atlantis or Graveyard Shift. But, those movies were good.

I hate poo-pooing a title like this, but there isn’t a ton going on. You get some fun early CG and a lot of gore. But, it’s never that much or groundbreaking. Rooker carries so much of the film on his back, as he tries to keep the focus in a time when his career wasn’t the hottest. Hell, this was coming 2 years after Brodie Bruce was stink-palming him at the mall. If any of that sounds appealing, check it out.
