HAMMER FILMS DOUBLE FEATURE: NEVER TAKE CANDY FROM A STRANGER/SCREAM OF FEAR! REVIEWED

“Never Take Candy From A Stranger” plays like That Yellow Bastard by way of Populist Post WWII European fiction. Yeah, I just dropped some Liberal Arts interpretation on yo’ ass. But, seriously…it’s a film that takes the lessons of M with the immediate gratification of a modern Western flick. For a film that plays under 90 minutes, don’t expect some groundbreaking hot takes on child molestation. More than anything, the molestation is a device to develop a tale about class warfare.

“Scream of Fear!” is about having fun torturing the handicapped. A young crippled woman is beset by visions of her father. The problem is that Pops is dead and her stepmother is setting her up. While we watch the young lady go crazy, one has to wonder what is to be done with her extended family. It’s a Hammer movie, so they get handled.
