’71

“71” is an amazing piece of historical fiction. Rather than trying to recreate a moment of The Troubles, the film wants to give you a sense of the era. Jack O’ Connell continues to impress since his star turn in “Unbroken”. He plays a young British soldier left behind enemy lines in Belfast, as Irish tension places multiple targets on his back. The fight back to the proper United Kingdom makes “The Warriors” look like a joke.

The DVD comes with a Digital HD copy and no other special features. The A/V Quality is pretty solid for a film like this. The standard definition transfer is pretty clean with no digital noise. The same goes for the Dolby 5.1 track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.

Release Date: 7/7/15
