Synapse Films Releases “Intensely Independent: The Micro-Budget Films of Blake Eckard” on DVD September 10

Synapse Films is excited to announce the release of Intensely Independent: The Micro-Budget Films of Blake Eckard, available on DVD starting September 10. This special double-feature DVD showcases two of Blake Eckard’s most gripping and unsettling films: Bubba Moon Face and Coyotes Kill for Fun.

About the Films

Bubba Moon Face
In the searing familial drama Bubba Moon Face, down-on-his-luck drifter Horton Bucks (played by Tyler Messner) finds himself in an impossible situation—caring for his brother’s newborn baby in a uniquely hostile environment. Shot over just five days, this film highlights Eckard’s resourcefulness and raw storytelling, even featuring his own newborn child in the film.

Coyotes Kill for Fun
Coyotes Kill for Fun tells the harrowing tale of a backwoods babysitter who aids a mother in escaping her abusive boyfriend, only to face the wrath of the boyfriend’s psychotic brother. Unlike the rapid production of Bubba Moon Face, Coyotes Kill for Fun was filmed over three years across Missouri, Montana, and Los Angeles, with multiple cinematographers, including indie film legend Jon Jost. Despite the varied production circumstances, Eckard’s visual mastery shines through, delivering a dark and violent exploration of terror in the rural South.
