“Survivor” is a foreign based actioneer that feels familiar, yet puts a lot of the dramatic tension on Jovovich. The cast is stellar and everyone actually acts like real diplomatic talent would act in this situation. There are far too many times that Wolf can be cried and Brosnan’s character realizes this. Evoking minor moments of Hitchcock, we get to watch Jovovich and Brosnan toy with each other rather than just having another international espionage flick.
Pierce Brosnan is having a late career comeback and I have to say that I enjoy it. However, this still isn’t the vehicle that makes that third act work. Brosnan shows his age, as he tries to run and act like it is 15 years ago. Unfortunately, it’s not. When Brosnan gets to sit and chew scenery, it works. It’s not that terrible, but it’s far more noticeable than it should be.
The Blu-Ray comes with a making-of featurette and deleted scenes as the special features. The A/V Quality is astonishing for a low budget action flick. The 1080p transfer sports zero sign of digital noise. Plus, the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track pops at every turn. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
