THE STRANGERS REVIEWED
“The Strangers” scratches so many itches for me. While most make a big deal out of how it’s kinda based on a true story or the mask design…I find something else that makes me smile. This is the first horror movie that confirms my natural distaste of strangers. If someone knocks at your door in the middle of the night, just leave it alone. Those psychos can move on or come back tomorrow. But, events happen the way they do.
While I still have the sequel firmly in my mind, this movie makes me happy. It gets that horror should work as an endurance experience. Not everyone is meant to survive, but the visual journey is about how far people are able to go against a monster. Good stuff all around and I’m glad that Shout Factory is giving everyone a chance to revisit the material. Plus, the transfer is quite amazing when compared to the old Universal disc. Still, I prefer having the sheer glut of special features on hand to continue my enjoyment of this delightful film.
