THE PLOT THUS FAR
Join The Shane Gang For Slugterra’s Very First Feature-Length Animated Adventure!
Just when the evil Dr. Blakk has been defeated and it seems like Eli Shane’s duties as protector of Slugterra are getting easier, a new danger emerges from beyond the 99 caverns. Eli and the Shane Gang rush to the rescue, but nothing can prepare them for what they encounter: a slug that can do something no one in Slugterra has ever seen, or heard, a slug do before! Traditional slugslinging no longer applies. Eli will have to engage in a very different kind of duel to save Slugterra…and himself!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Ghoul From Beyond” deals with a new threat coming after Eli and his pals. The 99 caverns’ mystery plays a lot better than dealing with Dr. Blakk. Boss Ember and his Scrap Force Gang live in the caverns, while messing with the Megamorphs. They’ve started building their own army, while fixing a lot of issues that the Shane Gang exhibits. Basically, it’s like Goldeneye with weird Pokémon creatures and random cartoony characters.
Slugterra is really demanding in terms of coming up with the storyline, but not so much that your 10 year old nephew can’t rant it off in under 5 minutes at a given opportunity. The feature itself runs about an hour long. So, I’m not quite sure how they can call it a feature. Even kiddie features typically clock closer to 90 minutes. I guess that this is more of an extended episode.
The DVD comes with a bonus slugisode as the special feature. The A/V Quality is on par with past releases. I keep wondering when we’re getting Slugterra in HD. I could’ve swore that this movie premiered on Disney XD in HD back in March. But, my mind is wonky now. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
