THE PLOT THUS FAR
Sinbad put on a show for a hometown crowd in Detroit. Watch it now!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Make Me Wanna Holla” is a return to form for Sinbad. Playing it clean and having fun with the crowd, Sinbad shows that he never lost that talent. I guess I grew up in the Sinbad generation, as I still remember Sinbad destroying Dennis Miller on “Star Search”. From there, we had “The Redd Foxx Show”, “A Different World” and the majesty that is “Houseguest”. I know that I might sound like I’m poking fun, but I’m a sincere fan of the guy. It’s a joke that he was never up for Emmy consideration for “A Different World”. But, let’s let past transgressions remain in the past and focus on the dude. After all, he did help bring together 702.
I’ve always been a fan of Sinbad and I’m glad to see that he’s staging a comeback. Should we call it a comeback? I feel that it is and that Sinbad has been building to it since the cameos on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “American Dad”. The guy dominates the stage for a solid hour plus and he never breaks a sweat. I love seeing comedians know what they’re doing and not having to rely on high-pitched and filthy antics. That’s not to say that I don’t like dirty humor. I’m a disgusting human being and I relish any opportunity created to ruin a moment. However, Sinbad rises over this stuff and presents a smart show that the family can enjoy.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is typical for a live performance. The Dolby track carries the jokes far. But, the transfer feels a little overlit. If that makes any sense. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
