SILVER SKIES REVIEWED
“Silver Skies” wasn’t what I expected. Well, the film started as I expected. Plucky old people about to be thrown out on the streets find a way to beat the odds. Then, you realize that their leader has Alzheimer’s and the other one is kinda rapey. But, it’s got The Chief from “Rescue Me” in it. Familiarity makes it easier to overlook the sexual assault angles that keep popping up in the last third of the film. That counts…right?
Valerine Perrine shines in a strong supporting turn. Still, the awkwardness of the third act undermines a ton of her choices. The cast is rather amazing and due to the involvement of some key players, I can almost date the film. That being said, I enjoyed the movie. It’s a rental/stream for an afternoon. Not everything is meant to stay with you forever.
