NOMA REVIEWED
“Noma: My Perfect Storm” is about the dedication of a Dane to find the best food. Taking a solid look at foraging and how a team of culinary experts can build excellent meals. For a documentary nerd, I’m used to foodies hogging the spotlight to talk about their culinary deities. It’s just that so much of this film feels like gushing and praise rather than a look at the guy’s overall work. Especially when you consider recent issues surrounding the restaurant NOMA.
I’ll leave those issues for you to google, as they will never naturally come up in the documentary. Gastronomes are the hipsters of the food world and we all know how I feel about hipsters. That being said, the documentary almost makes them endearing. You get the passion, the need to learn and the desire to make something better. Isn’t that enough to carry you through a documentary?
