Social media is hard.
“Why I’m Not on Facebook” was a rather short comedic look at one man’s struggle with social media. What Brant Pinvidic does is create a three part documentary that serves no point. In fact, I could see it being looked back on in a decade as meandering and pointless. Did I say a decade? I meant the present. Why does this movie exist?
Sure, he gets Dr. Drew Pinsky to try and lend pseudo scholarly advice about the impact of social media on users. But, what kid or parent or grandparent doesn’t understand this already? People are self-absorbed and need to be performing textually or physically at all times? I get it and I still don’t care. I gave the documentary three viewings to see if my take changed, but my disdain only grew with each viewing.
