THE PLOT THUS FAR
Once the leader of the Green Street Elite – the top hooligan football firm – Danny has turned his back on the lifestyle, and the trouble that comes with it. When he gets a call that his younger brother has died in a fight against another firm, Danny returns to London to find the people responsible for his death.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Green Street Hooligans Underground” is the third movie in the franchise. Hell, I thought it the second, but there apparently was another movie in 2009. I wonder if Lexi Alexander got a taste of that production? Oh well, she was off making the best Punisher movie possible. This film is about Scott Adkins using his MMA skills to teach hooligans that soccer violence is wrong. I would’ve loved so much to hear him beat the correct term into the Brits’ brains instead of their continued besmirching of football. Americans know sports, Brits know apologizing for years of having a grandstanding Empire.
I liked the original movie, but I can’t see any reason why it begat a direct to video franchise. Not much changes, as we just change out leads and we watch violence being used to stop more violence. Throw in a later Bronson era revenge plot and you’ve got a movie. Cannon would’ve been proud, but it doesn’t create a solid film. But, I’m arguing with a readership that sent me that stupid gritty Power Rangers clip no less than 129 times before noon today.
The DVD comes with a Digital Copy and a featurette with interviews as the special features. The A/V Quality is sharp for standard definition. The transfer plays a bit too dark. However, the Dolby 5.1 track was loud and expansive. In the end, I’d recommend a rental or a stream.
