With the holiday season approaching, Fandango has unveiled results from its annual Most Anticipated Holiday Movies survey. The ticketing service polled nearly 2,000 film fans to determine the most buzzed-about upcoming theatrical releases.
Among key findings, 83% of respondents plan to see at least one wide release in theaters this holiday season. Nearly 75% intend to catch multiple films on the big screen, while 66% are interested in seeing new movies with family.
The top 10 most eagerly awaited upcoming holiday movies are:

- Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
- Wonka
- The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
- Napoleon
- Wish
- The Color Purple
- Ferrari
- Poor Things
- Godzilla Minus One
The survey also asked which films fans plan to buy on digital platforms like Vudu when available:
- The Marvels
- Aquaman 2
- The Hunger Games Prequel
- Wonka
- Godzilla Minus One
- Napoleon
- Wish
- Trolls Band Together
- The Boy and the Heron
- Thanksgiving
When it comes to iconic holiday films, 73% agreed The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie, while 65% said the same of Die Hard.
For favorite Thanksgiving-themed films, Knives Out topped Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Addams Family Values. The top Christmas films were Home Alone, Elf, Christmas Vacation, and It’s a Wonderful Life.
To help fans get in the holiday spirit, Fandango’s Rotten Tomatoes will offer watch lists and gift cards. The Vudu streaming service will also have holiday movie deals.
