“The Drownsman” is an amazing throwback to the 80s slasher movies. I know that feels like it gets thrown out once every two months now, but some people are doing an amazing job. Michelle Mylett and Director Chad Archibald make you believe in the terror of the Drownsman. The idea of a psycho stalking women and then dragging them to their watery death is amazing. But, it seems like a very finite conceit. At least Jason and Freddy had the chance to really stretch and get imaginative.
The Blu-Ray comes with no special features. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is stunning and supports dialogue. The 1080p transfer plays dark, but clean. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to horror fans.
