A Dread Original Production
THE HANGMAN is a DREAD original production, created in association with Traverse Terror and fully financed from production to distribution by the independent studio. Executive produced by Cole Payne, this film promises to deliver intense horror and gripping storytelling.
Patrick Ewald, CEO of Epic Pictures, shares his excitement:
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to share our latest Dread Original, THE HANGMAN. Working with Bruce, Cole, and LeJon has been a fantastic experience. In the horror abyss of THE HANGMAN, fear takes shape and nightmares find a new face.”
The Story Behind The Hangman
Directed by Bruce Wemple, THE HANGMAN tells the story of Leon, a middle-aged door-to-door salesman, who takes his teenage son on a camping trip into deep rural Appalachia to mend their troubled relationship. Unbeknownst to them, the region harbors dark secrets. A local cult has summoned a bloodthirsty demon known as The Hangman, born of hate and pain. When Leon wakes up to find his son missing, he must confront the murderous cult and the demon to rescue him.
Wemple shares his vision for the film:
“We set out to tell a story about the lengths a father will go to get his son back, including coming face to face with a bloodthirsty demon raised from hell. We can’t wait for audiences to come along for the ride.”
