This November, Cult Epics is releasing the Marleen Gorris Trilogy collection spotlighting the pioneering Dutch director behind hits like Antonia’s Line. The three-film Blu-ray and DVD set contains controversial early works that cemented Gorris’ status as a bold feminist filmmaker.
The trilogy includes A Question of Silence, about women who kill a shopkeeper; Broken Mirrors, set in an Amsterdam brothel; and The Last Island, following plane crash survivors on a deserted island.
All three films have been newly restored in HD from 35mm elements and come packed with special features. These include audio commentaries, vintage interviews with Gorris and crew, introductions, trailers, galleries, and an essay booklet.
Marleen Gorris’ films unflinchingly explore women’s psychology and social status through provocative concepts and complex characters. Her trilogy lays the groundwork for her acclaimed later Oscar winner Antonia’s Line.
By spotlighting these early touchstones, Cult Epics celebrates Gorris’ daring vision and lasting influence on feminist cinema. Don’t miss the chance to discover or revisit these thought-provoking works.
