A CHANNEL OF PEACE, an innovative non-profit venture focused on creating faith-based, family-oriented entertainment, proudly announces its maiden film release, “LUCKY LOUIE”. The film is a unique collaborative effort between writer-director Daniel Roebuck (known for roles in Rob Zombie’s “THE MUNSTERS”, “THE FUGITIVE”) and his daughter, Grace Roebuck, a rarity in the world of movie making.
“Lucky Louie” tells the captivating story of retired police officer Wilbert Moser, brought to life by prolific actor Basil Hoffman in his final film. Moser, unable to crack a half-century-old bank robbery, teams up with an unconventional group to resolve the mystery. The team comprises members of his Bible study, who were once convicts he arrested and rehabilitated (characters portrayed by Roebuck, Willard Pugh, Duane Whitaker, and Patrick Voss Davis). Alongside them is Forensic Psychology major Alex D’Ambrosio (Madelyn Dundon, “GETTING GRACE”), and the owner of their favorite diner, Barney (Timothy E. Goodwin, “PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN”). Together with the support of their local Lehigh Valley community, where Roebuck grew up, they strive to unravel the decades-old crime.
Lucky Louie Audience Reviews
This movie marks the third faith-based family film by Roebuck and his team, following “GETTING GRACE” in 2016 and “THE HAIL MARY” in 2021. “I grew up in an era when shows like The Andy Griffith Show entertained and imparted life lessons. Regrettably, Hollywood doesn’t cater to such content anymore,” says Daniel Roebuck. “Identifying this gap prompted me to create content that not only entertains but also presents characters that rely on faith to surmount challenges.”
Perhaps what’s most notable about “Lucky Louie” is the unparalleled collaborative effort between Daniel and his daughter Grace Roebuck. While they’ve produced numerous projects alongside Daniel’s wife, Tammy Roebuck, this was their first joint venture in writing and directing. To their knowledge, this father-daughter partnership in both writing and directing is an unprecedented event in film history.
“Lucky Louie” also carries a poignant significance as it features Basil Hoffman’s last performance. Hoffman, with a career spanning more than a hundred film and TV credits—including “ORDINARY PEOPLE”, “MY FAVORITE YEAR”, “THE ELECTRIC HORSEMAN”, and the Oscar-winning film “THE ARTIST”—culminates his illustrious journey with his first leading role in “Lucky Louie”.
“Lucky Louie” made its debut in select US theaters on April 28, 2023.
Up next for the Roebuck team is their football-themed film, “THE HAIL MARY”, slated for a fall release. With their unique approach and dedication to faith-based storytelling, A CHANNEL OF PEACE is carving its niche in the entertainment landscape.
