INVASION U.S.A.

INVASION U.S.A. REVIEWED

“Invasion U.S.A.” is about one man’s efforts to stop a rogue Russian invasion of the Southeastern US. The film suggests that the action takes place in Florida, but the movie is painfully Atlanta in the mid 1980s. Tons of real stunts, real demo and Norris capitalizing on his peak produces a stunning film for the ages. Hell, it’s the film that made me love Richard Lynch. Lynch never tries to portray a Russian baddie with any sense of reality. If I had to find a role to compare it, I’d place it somewhere Christopher Lloyd playing a Latino in “The Oogieloves”.

Chuck Norris films for Cannon in this era capitalized on being over the top. This is the film that 4 or 5 year old Anderson what a rocket launcher was and that I needed to buy all of the Karate Kommandos toys. It’s weird to see such bizarre icons of masculinity from your youth getting revisited later on. While it’s not as homoerotic as “Masters of the Universe”, you have to wonder if the aesthetic overload is why I can’t handle slow dramas anymore. This is a must-buy for all.
