SLC PUNK 2 REVIEWED
“SLC Punk 2” runs with the secondary title “Punk’s Dead”. While a subculture as old as Punk being dead shouldn’t be a surprise, the film revels in kids trying to live in the carcass of long since deceased tribes. Conformity to cultural identities is the name of the game, as we’re now in the second or third generation of people that the original Steve-O would’ve hated. The film has no idea to do with its new lead Ross, as he’s too young for the spirit of SLC Punk. More often than not, the film serves as a reunion for the older members of the first film. Are we following a new generation or wallowing in the past? I’d love to know the answer.
