“Inside Assad’s Syria” is a weird look at how a dictator uses PR to combat the ISIS threat overrunning his country. Martin Smith takes us through what happens when awful fights evil, all the while trying to cover up atrocities. It’s a sick twisted turn of events that almost feels Kubrickian at points. But, I wish we had more documentaries like this to focus on the bizarre duality of the situation. The DVD comes with no special features.
