“The Cosby Show” is here with the first two seasons in a mega pack. These years were rough and I have a hard time seeing how they built a fanbase. “Cheers” was always on fire from Day 1, but “The Cosby Show” had to figure out how to balance the kids with the adults. Clair keeps trying to force the lawyer thing, but no one really seemed to care. All they wanted was to see Cliff and Clair fool around, while the kids learned a lesson.
The first two seasons were pretty rough, but they allowed for the formula to come together. The guest stars started popping up in the second season, while we started to see future stars appear in the background. I want to say that the opening of the second season was the episode that Alicia Key was a background kid on. However, that would require me taking Wikipedia’s word for it. Naturally, I’ll go for my attention rattled memory, rather than something as reliable as that. Naturally, I can see why The Simpsons would eventually kill this show.
There’s something about classic television that’s hard to explain to younger generations. That being said, I still say “Jammin’ On the One”. Remember the Stevie Wonder episode? That was so great and so weird. I love it when material like this exists just to keep the weird tropes of a decade alive. The DVD comes with no special features. However, you get better than average A/V Quality. It’s not going to set the world on fire, but it looks great when compared to syndicated broadcasts. The same goes for the Dolby 2.0 Surround track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
