The Unnamable is a fun seemingly foreign jaunt through the world of H.P. Lovecraft. While I had never heard of the film before this release made its way to my door, I was surprised by the inventiveness even for 1988. The idea of some beast tearing people apart for their appendages is cool. However, it feels derivative even knowing that it was groundbreaking in Lovecraft’s time. Still, it’s a movie I watch for the impressive makeup work rather than giving it literary adaptation points.
