SILICON VALLEY REVIEWED
“Silicon Valley” returns with Hooli targeting Pied Piper. Watching the tech world get treated with brutality is pretty sharp. The extra clever cruelty to the situation is Mike Judge’s forte. While Miller is the only one that plays to what we expect from Judge, Starr and Middleditch bring something new. They make you want to feel something for these guys, all the while realizing they’re self-destructive nerds. That being said, they hog focus to the point that you almost forget about everyone else in the cast.
The Google bashing is fun, but how much further can Middleditch carry the Pied Piper crew? Night sweats and social anxiety are only funny to a point. If Judge was wise, he’d have an end game in sight. But, I guess that’s why I don’t have a deal at HBO. Outside of the jokes and friendships, I rarely see the plot moving forward. That’s a sticking point to keep me glued to appointment television. But, Amanda Crew is getting more screen time and that’s always a plus.
