HIGHER POWER REVIEWED
“Higher Power” broke my brain a little. While it looks amazing for a film made by an FX artist and shot on a ton of cameras, the end result is a pretty looking melodrama. Colm Feore and Ron Eldard are your focus points to talk about a man coming to terms with his failings. His adult daughters and others try to push him around, but ultimately it’s about giving himself over to a Higher Power to become superhuman. The result is the most expensive FX reel that I have ever seen.
Magnolia/Magnet is really bringing it with these early steps into the 4K arena. However, I’m not sure if they have the material available to justify the jump. It will come in time and this film is a jump in the right direction. However, it’s more drama about a miserable person rather than a Cyberpunk thriller. If that kind of thing sounds more your bag, check it out. Otherwise, wait before giving it a stream.
I did want to add that I loved seeing Ron Eldard in the movie. He’s a personal favorite and I don’t see him in enough things anymore.
