THE ENDLESS REVIEWED
“The Endless” makes UFO Death Cults into a family bonding experience. Two brothers handle life after leaving the cult in a different way. Sure, they are both janitors, but one wants to learn what has happened in the aftermath of leaving. What bothered me about the film is how appealing it makes cult life seem. I’m not saying that everyone should run out and join a cult. But, I can see why the brothers wanted to return.
Using various bits of old media to hold focus on the cult life, the film almost dives into navel gazing territory. Thankfully, the cast is supportive and able to build a world for the audience to enjoy. While I didn’t love the movie as much as Spring, the directing team still has me interest to see what they do next. Also, this feels like a weird film for Well Go USA to pick up. I know they’re diving deeper into American horror and other genre materials.
However, I feel like it’s a deep throw into undefined regions for them. Oh well, it’s still enjoyable.
