BAD INFLUENCE REVIEWED
“Bad Influence” was Rob Lowe’s big comeback role in 1990. Lowe kills as the seedy drifter that wants to improve James Spader’s life. Unfortunately, Spader starts spinning out of control as he is living above his pay grade. Women, drugs and crime become a way of life, as the future Chris Traeger pushes Ultron to the breaking point. Lisa Zane has an amazing pre Freddy’s Dead appearance in a role that could’ve been easily written off.
Supposedly, the film was inspired by a true story. But, that’s the kind of thing that starts off as insider talk and then becomes film lore. What I enjoyed about the film is how easy it became for a generation to ignore and for another to forget. These actors that we enjoy as Baby Boomer TV fodder were acting their asses off in criminally underseen films. Do the right thing and check them out now.
