TWO FEMALE SPIES WITH FLOWERED PANTIES REVIEWED
“Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties” plays like a soft-core Women in Prison/Female spy movie. There is talk of sex rings, spying for the Americans and a third of the film is framed around the leads’ breasts. Jess Franco was a pioneer in taking smut to the next level. But, the guy found his next level in the early 70s and retired there. What follows is 91 minutes of spy talk, slight action pieces and a plot that feels like it could’ve been a Dirk Diggler movie. While many try to find the historical merits in Franco’s work, let’s be honest about where the guy was by 1980. He was making dry smut in an era where video was taking the filthy stuff into the mainstream. Do with that what you will.
