MCHALE’S NAVY REVIEWED
“McHale’s Navy” first hit TV in 1962. It wasn’t long before Universal knew they had a hit and squeezed out two films to capitalize on its success. The first film is an Ernest Borgnine showcase that capitalizes on what made the first season of the show work. It wasn’t until “McHale’s Navy Joins the Air Force” that they started capitalizing the show. The comedy gets turned up, as Tim Conway gets more time to shine. Each film comes in at slightly over 90 minutes and works as military farce. Fans of the show will enjoy it, but the material is dated.
