Liz and the Blue Bird review: Music Recital Senpai

Liz and the Blue Bird is based on the Sound Euphonium series. Basically, it’s two stories in one. Two friends trying to learn a piece to perform as part of a larger ensemble. Then, we get to see the fairy tales aspects told in their story song. I’m starting to enjoy the more experimental nature of these recent anime outings.

However, there’s not a ton here that will make a fan out of the fence sitters. What’s super shocking is that this is the third film in the Sound Euphonium series. I’m totally interested in seeing what came before.
