THE JIM GAFFIGAN SHOW REVIEWED
“The Jim Gaffigan Show” is better than I thought it would be. The brainchild of Peter Tolan, Jim Gaffigan and his wife Jeannie, we get something that I never expected TV Land to air. An avant garde look at a comic’s life by way of traditional comedy fare. If you’re a fan of Gaffigan’s routine, then the usual things are there. Kids are everywhere, wife wants more respect and the junk food addiction are all elements that play throughout the series. It’s just that the show while portraying a fictionalized take on the Gaffigans’ lives makes them seem really poor at times.
The second season returns to TV Land in June and I’m stoked for what’s coming next. I couldn’t say that before picking up this DVD. I guess that’s because I really don’t watch TV as much I used to watch it. Modern comedy is starting to turn it around, but I still feel we have a way to go. That being said, Gaffigan is on the right track with this show.
