Eugenie is Christopher Lee's only skin flick.
“Eugenie” is one of the reasons why I normally don’t take screenshots. I used to love doing it and Blue Underground did a bang up job on the transfer. However, it was nearly impossible to find a strong shot that didn’t have full frontal nudity. Bless Jess Franco and his smut powers at their peak. But, what did I expect? It’s a film about a sexual domination island ran by Christopher Lee. Titties were going to be a’flyin!
Seeing a beautiful 4K restoration for Jess Franco’s second best work is one of my home video highlights for 2015. While the nudity is bountiful and Christopher Lee is working at top rate…what else is there? It’s 87 minutes of just overwhelming visual classy sleaze that no sensible person knows where to look. As a film fan, I appreciate having that overwhelming attack. But, I can see how it’s not for everyone.
The Blu-Ray comes with interviews, trailer, bonus booklet, bonus CD soundtrack and a ton of promo stills as the special features. The A/V Quality continues Blue Underground’s 2015 streak of incredible releases. True grain matched by respected DTS-HD mono audio tracks blows away classic film releases from major studios. This is cult material meant for real film fans. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
