Synapse Films Releases Jeff Lieberman’s Infamous LSD Horror Blue Sunshine in Limited Edition 4K UHD 3-Disc Set on April 15th

Synapse Films has announced the April 15th release of Jeff Lieberman’s notorious psychedelic horror classic, Blue Sunshine, presented in a limited edition 4K UHD 3-Disc collector’s set.

At a remote countryside house party, Frannie Scott (Richard Crystal, Fun With Dick and Jane) loses his hair—and mind—in a sudden psychotic breakdown, turning violent after his bald scalp is exposed. Innocent bystander Jerry Zipkin (Zalman King, Red Shoe Diaries) is blamed and forced into hiding as more bald-headed maniacs emerge across town, including Wendy (Ann Cooper, Seems Like Old Times), a stressed-out single mom, and even a congressional candidate (Mark Goddard, Lost in Space). Desperate to clear his name, Jerry teams up with friend Alicia (Deborah Winters, Tarantula: Deadly Cargo) to uncover the horrifying truth behind these bizarre attacks: all victims ingested an experimental LSD called “Blue Sunshine” during their college days at Stanford. Decades later, the drug’s hidden consequences trigger deadly rampages—leaving Jerry to wonder who else might snap next.

Director Jeff Lieberman (Squirm, Satan’s Little Helper) takes the panic surrounding psychedelic drug culture and government-produced anti-drug films to extreme, horrific heights. This twisted tale features a notable supporting cast, including Robert Walden (Audrey Rose), Bill Adler (Switchblade Sisters), and Alice Ghostley (Grease).
