SOUTHBOUND REVIEWED
“Southbound” is a horror anthology. There is a time in my life where that was enough to sell me out of the gate. I can’t tell you how many times I watched Creepshow 2 and Tales from the Darkside when I was 10. But, what about “Southbound”? It’s a collection of peak moments with a ton of thin connecting material. So, what does it all mean?
Flying skeleton creatures, crazy sisters and terrible family road trips dot the landscape of this film. While a visceral level of fun is achieved, I can’t say that the movie tugs at the brain too hard. Atmosphere and blood power the film and that is enough to get me for a rental. Would I call “Southbound” an important film that everyone must see? No. However, it is well worth a rental.
