Shudder, AMC Networks’ premier streaming service for horror, thrillers, and the supernatural, is excited to announce the world premiere of its latest original, “In a Violent Nature,” at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. This groundbreaking third-person slasher, written and directed by Chris Nash, will debut in the festival’s Midnight Section, marking Shudder’s fifth consecutive year showcasing films at Sundance.
“In a Violent Nature” promises to be a standout addition to the horror genre. The film artfully unfolds the eerie resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness. Shudder is known for its innovative approach to horror, and this film is no exception. It’s set to introduce a new horror villain, “Johnny,” adding a fresh terror to the pantheon of horror icons.
The film is the result of a creative partnership between Chris Nash and fellow producer Shannon Hanmer, with Peter Kuplowsky, who is also the lead programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section. “In a Violent Nature” is produced by Shudder, with Kuplowsky and Hanmer. The collaboration has brought forth a film that intertwines atmospheric dread and shocking gore, aligning perfectly with Shudder’s portfolio.
Following in the footsteps of acclaimed films like Jayro Bustamante’s “La Llorona,” Josh Ruben’s “Scare Me,” Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli’s “Violation,” Christian Tafdrup’s “Speak No Evil,” and Laura Moss’ “Birth/Rebirth,” “In a Violent Nature” continues Shudder’s tradition of presenting unique and compelling horror narratives at Sundance.
Samuel Zimmerman, Shudder’s VP of Programming, praises “In a Violent Nature” as a tremendous new addition to the slasher genre. He highlights the film’s unique blend of traditional horror elements and bold new storytelling, which embodies the essence of Shudder’s innovative approach to the genre.
Stay tuned for the release of “In a Violent Nature” in 2024, and don’t miss the chance to meet “Johnny” – a new terror in the world of horror.
This film is set to be a thrilling addition to Shudder’s already impressive collection, promising to honor the legacy of slashers while charting a new and brutal path forward.
