SHANNARA REVIEWED
“Shannara” is the latest attempt at a fantasy adaptation for the TV market. The results are pretty decent. It’s a WB level cast, but even the WB has been upping their game recently. Given that they have 26 books to adapt, hopefully this show will be around for awhile. I’ve never been big on fantasy elements, but the scope of the work is amazing. When did MTV start giving HBO a run for the money?
There’s a lot of world building in this first season, but it feels like I’m missing something. As it turns out the first season is adapted from the second book of the series. While that book is considered to be the most open to new readers, I wonder if I’m going to have to plow through Wiki pages to understand what’s going on with each new season. Oh well, it’s still good to see John Rhys Davies getting work.
