Rotten Tomatoes is Verified Hot now!

Rotten Tomatoes, the go-to source for entertainment reviews and recommendations, has just introduced an exciting new accolade: the “Rotten Tomatoes Verified Hot” badge. This new designation honors theatrical films that have earned the highest praise from fans, complementing the already popular “Certified Fresh” Tomatometer badge awarded by professional critics.

The Verified Hot badge is given to films that achieve a Verified Audience Score of 90% or higher on the Popcornmeter, along with meeting other key eligibility criteria. To kick off this new honor, Rotten Tomatoes is celebrating some of the summer’s biggest hits that have already earned the Verified Hot status, including Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Fly Me to the Moon, It Ends with Us, and more.

Alongside the launch of Verified Hot, Rotten Tomatoes has also refreshed the branding of its Popcornmeter audience scoring system.

Now, when 60% or more of the audience rates a movie or TV show with 3.5 stars or higher, fans will see a full red popcorn bucket labeled “Hot.” If less than 60% of the audience provides a rating of 3.5 stars or higher, a green tipped-over popcorn bucket will appear with the label “Stale.”

This summer’s Verified Hot movies include:

  • Bad Boys: Ride or Die
  • Deadpool & Wolverine
  • Fly Me to the Moon
  • Inside Out 2
  • Twisters
  • It Ends with Us

In addition to spotlighting this summer’s hottest films, Rotten Tomatoes is also celebrating the most beloved films since the launch of Verified Audience Ratings and Reviews in May 2019. Verified ratings are confirmed when Rotten Tomatoes can verify that the person rating the film purchased a ticket on Fandango.

The full list of over 200 Verified Hot films, which includes fan favorites like Top Gun: Maverick and The Color Purple, award-winning hits such as Parasite and Oppenheimer, and box office giants like Dune: Part Two and Spider-Man: No Way Home, can be viewed on Rotten Tomatoes’ website.
