“Robot Chicken” returns with a seventh season that picks up right after the Chicken is freed and the Professor is left tied to the chair to watch the material. While that interstitial storyline gets developed, you really see the writing improve throughout the year. The references start getting a tad more girly and getting into 90s material. But, there are still many efforts to dive deep into Boglins and other random trinkets. If that wasn’t enough, I found the constant toying around with Disney to be enough to entice new fans into the show.
The show improves so much when it is presented uncensored. The Michael Vick Pokemon joke was funny, while being dated for 2014. But, I get that the show takes awhile to produce. I compared the disc to a recently broadcast episode and saw that the lack of censoring improved timing and help set up bigger buttons. That might not mean a lot for the average viewer, but it pleased me.
The DVD comes with commentary, bonus Christmas special, featurettes and cut sketches as the special features. The A/V Quality is on par with the last few releases. Still, I wonder why we didn’t get a Blu-Ray release. This show is still broadcast in HD on Adult Swim. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
