Perseverance Records (PEGI) is excited to announce the REDUX Campaign, a Kickstarter crowdfunding initiative aimed at re-recording James Horner’s original compositions for the ’80s cult classics The Hand and The Dresser.
Reviving Unreleased Scores
In collaboration with the James Horner Estate, this ambitious project seeks to breathe new life into Horner’s unreleased scores and introduce a series of original compositions. The goal is to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of the Academy Award-winning composer.
“This Kickstarter campaign is about rediscovery and giving James Horner’s genius the platform it deserves,” said Robin Esterhammer, founder/producer of Perseverance Records. “These recordings are our tribute to his enduring impact on film music, an opportunity for new generations to experience the depth and breadth of his talent. Projects like this are crucial for keeping the spirit of iconic composers alive and pulsating through the hearts of movie and music lovers everywhere.”
A Collaboration of Enthusiasts
The project began with a meeting of minds between the Horner Estate, Perseverance Records, and other key individuals who share a passion for realizing this special project. The result is an album of completely new recordings of the scores for The Hand (1981) and The Dresser (1983), providing insight into Horner’s early years in the industry.
Star-Studded Lineup
The REDUX Campaign features a lineup of guest artists, including conductor Matt Dunkley, pianist Gloria Cheng, and blaster beam legend Craig Huxley. Both scores will be reconstructed from the original material and produced by prolific orchestrator and James Horner expert Nikiforos Chrysoloras. Recording sessions are scheduled for the first week of September 2024 in Prague at Smecky Studios.
