“Meet the Patels” is a funny documentary cut to entertain rather than inform. While that annoys the documentary nerd in me, I appreciate getting to experience the Patel Underground. Real-life romance beats anything that a rom com can piece together and I feel that the film is being done a disservice while compared to My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Ravi Patel is quite interesting and I wish that I saw more of his stuff before now. Honestly, I wish the film was a bit longer.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is rather sharp for standard definition. The transfer pops when it gets the chance, but the footage is very true to life. The Dolby 5.1 track pops in the front, but the back channels don’t get much action. Ultimately, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
