THE PLOT THUS FAR
Animals compete with everything they’ve got to find and secure a mate. For many, the all-important bonds they share as a couple are what enable the next generation to survive. But can we call these bonds love? In this look at the love life of animals, we see all the subtle, outrageous, romantic antics that go into finding a partner. These are love stories all right, as various and intriguing as the lovers themselves.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Love in the Animal Kingdom” is a special kind of documentary for PBS Nature. It’s an hour long jaunt into mating and courting habits among primates and other creatures. You’re not going to see animals getting down on your television screen. You get pretty close, so that might be much for impressionable children. Still, it’s an educational opportunity.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is pretty decent for a standard definition presentation. The Dolby track works for what it is. It’s what I’ve come to expect from a PBS DVD. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
