WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Keys of Friendship” is a look at how Twilight Sparkle has learned to be friends with the Pony Kingdom. All of your favorites are here, as the five episodes presents are basically Twilight’s highlight reel. So, a ton of the fans will probably already have this material. But, Twilight’s Kingdom appears to be new to DVD for me. I’ll leave that one for the Bronies to inform me on, as I had never seen it before this disc.
My Little Pony doesn’t need a lot of effort to promote it now. The fans are legion, as the world learns that Bronies and traditional fans alike have merged into one of the strongest fandoms around. So, why can’t they throw the hammer down and demand HD episodes? In this day and age, it’s pretty insane that we can’t get Friendship is Magic on Blu-Ray. Dude cartoons always get the HD treatment, why not Derpy and Pinkie Pie?
The DVD comes with a sing-along as the special feature. The A/V Quality is sharp for a basic cable animated series. The Dolby 5.1 track makes the musical cues really pop in surround. I never realized before how insane and detailed the score for the show was until I sat down with this release. The standard definition transfer is on par with the broadcasts I’ve seen on The Hub. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to Bronies and fans everywhere.
