I AM THOR

I Am Thor is about what happens when you go too Metal.

Thor is the real face of Metal.

“I Am Thor” is a look at the legacy of Jon Mikl Thor. For a period in the 70s and 80s, he was a steel bending bodybuilder that would rock the stage and headline major cult classics. While dressing up like a death metal version of Thor and rocking the stage didn’t age well through the 90s, Thor didn’t totally go away. He hid in retirement until the majesty of the stage called to him once more.

While the film runs short under 90 minutes, it plays quite well. You learn about Thor, you root for Thor and you want to know what’s going to happen after the documentary. For these kinda revival documentaries, that’s about the best you can hope to see. Hell, the documentary made me seek out my old copy of Zombie Nightmare. Memories!

The Blu-Ray comes with a trailer as the sole special features. The A/V Quality is quite stunning. The 1080p transfer pops for a documentary, but the archival footage holds up. The slightly lossy 5.1 track still sounds good. It’s just not going to wow the home theater enthusiasts. In the end, it’s worth a purchase.
