“Hell on Wheels” kinda had a downer Season 4. Common began his departure from the series and the general post winter turn felt grim. No one knew where they stood in town and the railroad seemed like it would never be finished. Cullen is holding on by his wits and his poor pregnant wife is having a rough time of it. Where can the series go next?
The show is a solid western, but it suffers from the pains that plague TV Westerns. Whether it’s a novel or a film, Westerns tend to work best in those formats due to its restrictions. TV allows the Old West to become far too leisurely and dwell in moments. When it comes to a show like this, it might just be too bleak for most. The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes as the special features. The A/V Quality is respectable with a clean 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track to support.
