This special set includes visits to archeological sites, stunning location footage, interviews with leading scholars, and period art and writings to investigate the possible real-world origins of these iconic and foundational myths.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Greeks, Gods, Heroes and Monsters” is a compilation of 8 previous History specials about Greek mythology. If you’re a young kid, then this will blow your socks off. It uses a few computer generated reproductions while staying away from Bullfinch. But, it’s not a serious academic affair. If anything, it’s on par with watching Jason and the Argonauts in class. You get a taste of the world, but somebody ends up fighting a walking skeleton.
The DVD comes with no special features. The Dolby track sets a stage, but it doesn’t have anything to show off. I’m not sure of that was the purpose of it, but it works. Plus, the transfer isn’t too bad for standard definition. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
