Queen Kristina of Sweden has always had a weird cinematic presence. “The Girl King” doesn’t shy from the fact that she preferred ladies, but it wants to mix in the wilder parts of her mythos with equal measures. She fought men, dabbled in mild Satanis, and tried to own the world. While that sounds like a life well spent, the film seemed to be continuously missing much of a point. If you still dig shallow biopics, then it’s worth it. The DVD comes with a trailer as the sole special feature.
