DAVID HOLT’S STATE OF MUSIC REVIEWED
David Holt and his State of Music is pretty wonderful. Holt travels through Southern Appalachia and discovers the roots of traditional music. Over the next hour, he studies how locals carry on the tradition and teach others about their passion. While it’s not for everyone, I feel that documentaries like this capture aspects of America that tend to go ignored. Well, ignored outside of deep academic circles. Appalachia still has tons to share with the rest of the country and they have to find a way to connect with the greater world. Please, PBS…make this an ongoing series.
