“Aquarius” is a sex filled romp through the late 1960s and the rise of Charles Manson. David Duchovny plays a detective who gets pulled into a case of a missing girl by a former fling. The girl’s father is a closeted homosexual with high rank in the Reagan era California Republican Party. All the while, Manson is shown on the periphery as a sexual maniac who will do anything to make his family grow. Throw in a few licensed music tracks and you’ve got yourself a series.
For the longest time, I thought this show got cancelled. Then, a crack team of trusted readers sent me documents and releases stating that it would be coming back. Honestly, I don’t see how a show that did sub “Hannibal” ratings could survive on NBC. But, the baby boomers love anything that reminds them of the past. There could be something here, but I’m just not seeing it. Hopefully, Season 2 flips it around.
The Blu-Ray comes with webisodes and a first look as the special features. That’s a fancy way of saying, the network promotional material is here for you to view. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track is insanely sharp and borders on reference quality. The 1080p track is strong, but not particularly impressive. If you dig the content, it might be worth a purchase.
