ACCIDENTAL INCEST REVIEWED
“Accidental Incest” is almost a musical, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that the film is so aggressive with its content that it dares audiences to embrace it. Whether it’s the fun nudity or anal sex imagery, the film wants you to be shocked. It’s only at the hour mark that you realize what’s going on. The humor comes from the fact that our possibly incestual heroic lovers aren’t the weirdest people in the film. The oddities are the freaks that try to impose their will on people who are just in love.
The film wants to evoke early arthouse oddities and the humor of John Waters to entice audiences. That being said, I can see this being the cult film for the cult film audience. There’s something about hammering people over the head with the obscene that produces this weird mental split for viewers. Yes, I’m saying that sometimes you can overload even the most hardcore viewers. The commentary helped to get a better understanding of the film’s origins. I want to see more, guys. Keep it up, Scorpio Film.
