“180 Days: Hartsville” is a look at the efforts to save a South Carolina town’s public school system. The town of Hartsville wants to make their kids able to compete in the global economy. But, the lack of interest coupled with the lack of funds produces a stunning effect. While the documentary runs two hours, it’s horrible to watch every good effort fail in the face of stark reality. It’s a strong effort with equal time given to all sides. But, economic reality can crush dreams faster than anything. The DVD comes with no special features.
