ZOMBIE 4: AFTER DEATH [Blu-ray review]

ZOMBIE 4: AFTER DEATH REVIEWED

“Zombie 4: After Death” features attacks by ninja zombies. Ninja zombie attacks that were spurred on by white scientists irritating a local Voodoo priest. Cue the power ballad and check out the appearance from porn star Jeff Stryker, as your jaw hits the floor. That’s the first reel, people. You’ve got another hour to go. While this was the last release in the traditional Zombie (Zombi) series, it was probably the best.

The Fulci original is loved for zombie vs. shark and how funny it played. Now, you’ve got an Italian gross-out horror movie trying to vie for attention in the 1989 horrorsphere. Competition does breed innovation, but the lack of respect for a solid script was staggering. Claudio Fragasso worked the Troll 2 magic on this release, as logic stopped mattering by the end of the first minute. When you’re dealing with supernatural horror, I respect throwing all regard to reality out the window.

Why feel the need to be trapped by rules and regulation? When is a zombie attack going to happen? Play with the nature of the beast and tell your best story. After all, John Landis had the best advice on how to kill a vampire/monsters. Do whatever you want, they’re fake.
